organized its first Knowledge Management event

Context :

When In-house counsel are provided with a way to manage knowledge, it then becomes a decisive factor in risk management and the preservation of legal expertise.

One approach to reducing the general complexity of legal work is to organize and internalize “what has gone before” in a knowledge management (KM) system. More than just a precedent database, KM can help corporate counsel share intelligence, capture new information, crosscheck relevant data, improve performance, achieve competitive advantage and, most importantly, avoid duplicating work that someone else in the department or external counsel has already completed. You do not need to pay for the same research and legal work product over and over again – you just need to know how to reuse it and where to find it.

Safeguarding, sharing and reusing the company’s legal know-how is a great opportunity for corporate counsel to prove their value and to receive acknowledgment.
